Why we chose a Labrador Retriever
When we decided that
we were going to purchases a dog we wanted to have a dog that we could
all enjoy. We wanted a breed that would live in the house, but to also
suit our outdoor life style and be able to do a hard days work and possibly show when
time allows. But most important of all our dog must be happy to be a
pet & enjoy cuddles & fuss, they must also have an excellent
reliable temperament & enjoy the company of young children. For
these reasons we chose a Labrador.
The first Labrador to join our family was
Hercwood Aisla of Wilarklodge,
(Kess); we purchased her in December 2001. She has had 1 litter
of puppies, we kept 3 back and the others went for pets, show and
working.
Our dogs spend most of their day with us round our horses and our children, we
have a baby who was born summer of 2009 Quite often you
will see the labs lying peacefully by the buggy with our little girl while she
enjoys a snooze. They also enjoy rolling around and playing with our
toddler who was born in 2007. He spends hours playing
with the Labs, taking them for a walks, fussing them and generally
enjoying being together and investigating new things.
Our toddler takes his responsibilities very seriously, he regularly
feed the Labs, giving them one biscuit at a time! They
have made us the most fantastic pet that we could ever have
wished for .
We breed a very
limited number of litters, and we do it because we really enjoy our
dogs and puppies. It is our aim to breed a quality, well-bred,
happy healthy well socialised puppy, we hope that puppy will be happy
to be your pet/companion and will have the bloodlines and quality that
will hopefully work & show well. As we only breed a very few
litters we are able to invest as much time as we can into the puppies,
they are regularly out with us, coming for walks round our fields, they
are used to other dogs, horses and our cat, Boot’s! All our adults
and puppies are used to children of a very young age stroking and playing amongst
them.
As we only breed very few litters we find that the puppies
go to their new homes very quickly. To avoid disappointment please keep a regular watch on our website you could
put you name on our waiting list.
